Federal Guard Finds Mail Bomb, Puts It in Lost and Found
What not to do when you stumble across an unmarked package while working as a security guard at a federal building with offices for the FBI and a U.S. senator:
The guard brought the package into the building and put it in "lost and found" without having it screened, Wright [ed: union rep for the guard] said. It sat until March 18 [ed: 3 weeks after its arrival!], when someone decided to X-ray the package and found that it might contain a bomb, he said.
A police bomb squad recovered and detonated the package. The private contract guard who found the package has been suspended, and is probably having a massive facepalm moment as we speak. [Reuters, image via Shutterstock.com]
