It's been a little while since we last checked in on the good Governor Sandwiches of New Jersey, Chris Christie, but he's suddenly become the most popular Republican in the country! And all it took was a few choreographed YouTubes of him screaming at teachers' unions, with his sleeves rolled up (crucially). So why won't he run for president already? Republican operatives, who hate all of the other candidates, demand it.

Christie outlined his reasons for not running in an interview with National Review the other day. They very specifically didn't include the fact that defeating Barack Obama in 2012 would be a major challenge. Chris Christie knows he could destroy that nerd. He's just not personally ready to win the presidency of the United States with ease, yet.

Believe me, I've been interested in politics my whole life. I see the opportunity. But I just don't believe that's why you run. Like I said at AEI, I have people calling me and saying to me, "Let me explain to you how you could win." And I'm like, "You're barking up the wrong tree. I already know I could win." That's not the issue. The issue is not me sitting here and saying, "Geez, it might be too hard. I don't think I can win." I see the opportunity both at the primary level and at the general election level. I see the opportunity.

But I've got to believe I'm ready to be president, and I don't.

C'mon, Sandwiches. You're ready. All you have to do is hand out medals to Meryl Streep; the rest is bullshit.
