A Sarah Palin appearance can do wonders for a non-profit's convention. Assuming it doesn't get the entire event canceled in the first place, because so many people hate Sarah Palin.

Take the Sharon K. Pacheco Foundation, a non-profit that raises money for children and other relatives of deceased soldiers. Pacheco announced on Friday that it had signed Sarah Palin to be its keynote speaker for its upcoming Patriots & Warriors Gala outside Denver. By Saturday, the whole event had been canceled.

From the Denver Post:

The event, sponsored by the Sharon K. Pacheco Foundation, was announced Friday. But the group said Saturday that the event had been canceled because of "safety concerns resulting from an onslaught of negative feedback received by the organization."

"Due to an onslaught of personal attacks against Gov. Palin and others associated with her appearance, it is with deep sadness and disappointment that, in the best interest of all, we cancel the event for safety concerns," according to the news release.

Maybe the Pacheco Foundation could just find another, less controversial keynote speaker? Glenn Beck comes to mind.
