A diamond in the rough of Wikileaks' latest diplomatic cable leak: a memo about the time a military hardliner slapped Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad in the face for being too "liberal."

The cable dates to February 2010, and deals with the aftermath of Iran's widely protested presidential election. Apparently Ahmadinejad took a "surprisingly liberal posture" on censorship, causing a military hardliner to freak out and slap him:

According to source, Ahmedinejad's statements infuriated Revolutionary Guard Chief of Staff Mohammed Ali Jafari, who exclaimed "You are wrong! (In fact) it is YOU who created this mess! And now you say give more freedom to the press?!" Source said that Jafarli then slapped Ahmedinejad in the face, causing an uproar and an immediate call for a break in the meeting, which was never resumed.

Fight! Fight! Fight! Not to take the totalitarian side, but I kinda suspect this guy would take Ahmadinejad in a fight. Just sayin'. [Wikileaks via Huffington Post]
