A broken chairlift at Maine's Sugarloaf Mountain injured at least three skiers and hundreds were being evacuated off of the chairlift after being stuck in the freezing cold. Good thing a CNN employee is on the lift to report back!

CNN's Robb Atkinson is one of the people stuck on the lift and has been sending updates as the situation progresses. His last dispatch says that the crew at the mountain is very organized and systematically rescuing skiers left dangling 40 feet off the ground in the 30mph winds and 8 degree weather. At least they have several inches of fresh powder to enjoy once they finally get down.

Thanks to commenter Resu427 we have these pictures of the incident from a friend who was riding the chairlift next to the one with the broken cable. Welcome to the digital age, where no small catastrophe goes undocumented.
