This week, the Winter Solstice lunar eclipse captivated the world with its once-in-400-years beauty. But the Universe has other cool stuff, too—the Milky Way, for example. Inside, a recent—and stunningly beautiful—time-lapse of the Galaxy over Nevada's Lake Tahoe.

The photographer, Justin Majeczky, describes the method/equipment by which he captured the video on its Vimeo page as follows:

This has has not been processed, this is straight from the camera. I still have to color correct it. Milky Way Time lapse over Lake Tahoe on 9/4/2010. Shot with a Canon 5d Mkii, Sigma 24mm f1.8, Opteka Battery grip to hold two battery's so I can get 9 hours of run time, Canon intervelometer, and a tripod. Shot 30 sec exposures at f1.8 every 35 seconds.
