Four bodies were found at Long Island's Oak Beach, including one thought to be that of Shannan Gilbert, a 24-year-old prostitute who disappeared in May. Authorities believe the same person—or "team of people"—is responsible for all four.

The first of the four—the one that may be Gilbert—was discovered by a police officer running a training exercise with his dog. The bodies were all located in the space of a quarter mile, each about 500 feet from the next, and two wrapped in burlap sacks. Of the last three, only one has been identified as a woman at all: The other two are in such advanced stages of decomposition that their genders weren't immediately apparent.

Oak Beach is directly across from Fire Island, the place Gilbert was headed when she disappeared. Police will continue to search the area today for further evidence.
