Russian Hit Squad Hunting Double Agent Who Sold Out Sexy Spy
Russian newspaper Kommersant reports that the Foreign Intelligence Service has sent a hit squad after the double agent who sold out sexy spy Anna Chapman and nine others. "We know who he is and where he is," an official said.
According to the paper, an unnamed Kremlin official said that "Colonel Shcherbakov" had been the head of Russia's deep cover operations in the U.S., while working as a double agent. Shcherbakov is said to have left Moscow just days before the FBI arrested the spy ring, and that he has a daughter who lives in the U.S. and a son who used to work for Russia's anti-narcotics agency. And here's what the Kremlin official told the paper:
Do not doubt that a Mercader has been sent after him already," the Kremlin official said, referring to Russian agent Ramon Mercader, who murdered exiled Bolshevik Leon Trotsky with an ice axe in 1940 in Mexico.
Yikes. Pissing off Russia's spy agency rarely turns out well.
