Dharun Ravi and Molly Wei, the two Rutgers students charged with secretly broadcasting freshman Tyler Clementi's gay sexual encounter online—which drove Clementi to suicide—have withdrawn from Rutgers.

The Star-Ledger reports that Wei has asked Rutgers to allow her to withdraw, citing safety concerns. "She is a student in good standing, has not been convicted of anything but had concerns for her safety," said her lawyer.

The Asbury Park Press reports that Ravi also withdrew this month. His attorney says that he, like Wei, will seek to enroll at a different school. "Realistically, they couldn't go back no matter what. He definitely plans to go somewhere else.''

Ravi's attorney also said that their withdrawal means they won't face disciplinary action at Rutgers. The criminal case against the two remains.
