The perils of hand-held technology obsession are many: Shark attacks, child neglect, the old oops-I-dropped-my-phone-into-the-urinal routine. We must unite, rise up, and combat this scourge on our nation, starting with this word of advice from the new Windows Phone: Stop staring at your freaking smartphone all the time.

The new Windows Phone is the phone that will save you from your phone. Get everything done, just faster and more efficiently, so you have more time for things like cuddling, child-rearing, and avoiding approaching undersea predators.

With the Windows Phone's revolutionary Live Tiles, one glance at the Start screen is all you'll need to know exactly what's happening in your digital world—live. Messages, appointments, status updates, news, weather, the score of the game, any app you have open, are all completely live and updating before your eyes. Which equals less time clicking and scrolling and searching, and more time gazing into the eyes of your intended, checking both ways before you cross the street, interacting with your nephew, not shoulder-checking an old lady on the subway steps, etc., etc.

Next week we'll give you some more tips for not being a technology-obsessed schmo. Until then, practice looking up from your screen and smiling at the girl in the elevator. Click here for all the Windows Phone specs, including details on the MS Office Hub, Bing search & maps, Xbox Live, and more!
