Friday is the most exciting day, because it means drinking, yes, but also movies! What should you see? Let's look at six films being released today: Red, Jackass 3D, Conviction, Carlos, The Four-Faced Liar, and I Want Your Money.

Red

We should all know what this one is by now. Helen Mirren shoots enormous guns while Morgan Freeman chuckles and Bruce Willis raises his eyebrows. Plus John Malkovich and Mary-Louise Parker. It's a strange cast, but in a good way. (Wide release)

Carlos

International director Olivier Assayas brings us this TV miniseries turned feature release about legendary terrorist Carlos the Jackal. It's 330 minutes long and is in a variety of languages, but the real-life story is pretty fascinating. If you've got five hours to spare, we say go for it. And then tell us if we should subject ourselves to it. Thanks! (New York only)

Jackass 3D

The violently homoerotic past-its-prime reality phenomenon is back again, this time with more wrinkles and weaker bones. And 3D glasses! If you like this kind of stuff, then you like this kind of stuff. If you don't, you don't. There's really nothing more to it. (Wide release)

Conviction

Hilary Swank stars as yet another down-on-her-luck woman who pulls herself up by the whatevers and overcomes impossible odds. It's still pretty unclear whether Hilary Swank is actually good at acting, so here's another chance to maybe figure it out. At least Sam Rockwell is in it, and is supposedly terrific, like always, as are cast members Juliette Lewis, Melissa Leo, and Minnie Driver. (Limited release)

The Four-Faced Liar

This tiny romantic comedy is notable mostly because it's named after a bar in the West Village that is really in no way a meeting ground for the thoughtful indie types of the sort featured in this trailer. At least there's lots of filthy sapphistry! (Limited release)

I Want Your Money

This is a right-leaning documentary about Obama's economic policies versus those of hero-god Ronald Reagan. It employs hilarious cartoon bits and heartwarming Tea Party footage to win you to its cause. If you're a true American, you will go see this film. (Playing in most states across the country, though some are omitted, like big government-crazed Taxachusetts.)
