True Grit: No Country for Even Older Men
Here's a trailer for Joel and Ethan Coen's upcoming adaptation of the famed Western revenge novel (which was turned into a famous John Wayne Oscar-winner), starring Jeff Bridges, Matt Damon, Josh Brolin, and some new girl who talks funny.
Not funny haw haw, just funny in that precocious young actor kind of way. That minor nuisance aside, this thing looks pretty much crazy good. How could it not be, with that particular cast of actors, two of whom have made beautiful, strange music with the Coen Brothers before, and those stunning visuals. There's definitely a fear there that the whole thing will feel like too much of a rehash of No Country for Old Men, just with the clock set back a hundred years or so, but even it if it does, who cares? That movie was great! Jeff Bridges is great! And, most importantly, longtime Coen collaborator Roger Deakins, America's greatest living cinematographer, is so, so great.
I'm totally in for this ridin' rodeo of revenge. Are you?
