Remember that tornado in Brooklyn two weeks ago? It caused a good amount of damage to the borough's trees and power lines, but there was an even greater casualty: the Gowanus Canal. Here's post-tornado video of Brooklyn's biggest toilet, overflowing.

According to the New York Observer, the Bloomberg administration on Tuesday announced a plan for reducing raw sewage overflow and fixing other nasty things called NYC Green Infrastructure. By 2030, it should save the city some $2.4 billion. Good news! But it's going to take a long time to fix. In the meantime, watch this amateur video of the Gowanus rapidly turning brown, and carrying along trash bags and used condoms as it overflows with raw sewage. The video has been around for a bit, but feel free to watch again. The commentary and visuals are priceless. Lots of dry heaving!
