Joe Cerniglia, the chef at New Jersey restaurant Campania, jumped to his death off the George Washington Bridge last Friday. His death's in the papers because he once appeared on Gordon Ramsay's Kitchen Nightmares. Cause and effect overreach alert?

"Your business is about to f - - king swim down the Hudson," the brash Brit berated Cerniglia, a married dad of three who lived in Pompton Lakes.

Well. That's a very unfortunate quote, considering. But that was back in 2007, and the restaurant was reportedly doing much better business recently, so who knows. Cerniglia is the second subject of a Ramsay show to commit suicide—a 2006 Hell's Kitchen contestant also did so.

Sad, tragic, but probably not related to Gordon Ramsay. Take heart, struggling restaurateurs: Gordon feels your pain.
