Flying Economy Class Could Soon Get a Whole Lot Worse
A new airplane passenger seat called SkyRider could revolutionize the way airlines rip travelers off, by installing "saddle" seats that offer just 27 inches of legroom, or seven inches less than the average airplane seat. That sounds awful.
The new seats are aimed at budget airlines, like the UK's Ryanair, who recently announced it wants to get rid of co-pilots. And really, who needs co-pilots? The airline is also trying to add standing room only tickets for £5 per person, but it has yet to be approved by the European Aviation Safety Agency.
Next thing you know, airlines will be offering "discount" seats in the cargo bay and charging extra for each piece of clothing you have on.
