While most of us are excited for serial-adulterer slob Newt Gingrich's possible presidential run, ultra-conservative Oklahoma Sen. Tom Coburn is decidedly not, saying, "He's the last person I'd vote for for president of the United States." Out of everyone!

Coburn, one of the most conservative members of the Senate (but still one of Barack Obama's closest, most hug-able friends!), probably echoes many social conservatives' feelings about Gingrich, who has cheated on and dumped various wives over the years. "Constant cheating and divorce" isn't a particularly appealing character trait to evangelical voters in Iowa, after all.

Here's what Coburn said in a town hall over the weekend, as reported by the Tulsa World:

Gingrich "is a super-smart man, but he doesn't know anything about commitment to marriage," he said of the thrice-married former House speaker. "He's the last person I'd vote for for president of the United States. His life indicates he does not have a commitment to the character traits necessary to be a great president."

Coburn also said of this year's elections, "If the conservatives in Congress gain control and don't live up to expectations, the Republican Party will be dead." Wrong! The Republican party always finds a way to stay alive, and it always will — even if Tom Coburn's dystopian hellscape of a future comes true, and Newt Gingrich manages to retake control of it.
