Since the gubmint came and taxed the hell out of everything from clove cigarettes to E-cigarettes, the last reasonable refuge for a gentleman who enjoys soothing nicotine is to roll his own cigs out of barely-taxed "pipe tobacco." Wait—revenuers!

Instead of paying $11 for a regular pack in NYC, or paying $24.83 per pound taxes on rolling tobacco, Americans have suddenly gotten really into "pipe tobacco," which is exactly the same, but with 90% less taxes.

In the 14 months since the tax increase, the volume of pipe tobacco sold in the U.S. more than tripled to about 21 million pounds, according to data from the U.S. Treasury's Alcohol and Tobacco Tax and Trade Bureau. Rolling-tobacco sales volumes, in contrast, fell about 60%.

Now the government wants to close that loophole, too. You could cry about it, or you could just pay the taxes that will take care of your emphysema-wracked near-corpse a few decades down the road. Don't be such a leach at the public teat.
