The obligatory casting rumors have begun to materialize as NBC tries to figure out what to do with The Office post-Carell. The good news is the latest rumors are linking to Danny McBride and New Zealander Rhys Darby.

According to TV Squad, NBC has reached out to both McBride and Darby about possibly joining the cast of the show. They're playing things close to their chest for now, though. Showrunner Paul Lieberstein says that they're discussing bringing a new salesman into the show to "shake things up."

I'm imagining Danny McBride as a mulleted, asshole sales-jock and I'm tingling with excitement. It would probably be the funniest character that The Office has ever had. Darby would seem like a logical replacement for Steve Carell's Michael Scott but perhaps a bit too obvious; Darby having mined the delusional, awkward office drone pretty thoroughly in Flight of the Conchords. He should give the straight man role a try, as a new Kiwi ex-pat employee who has to deal with the insanity of Dundler-Mifflin Scranton branch.

What is for sure is that now the idea of these two being casted in the show has been brought to my attention I can't think of anything I'd like to see more. The Office needs these guys!

So, in honor of this most excellent rumor we've got a Murray Hewitt highlight reel and Kenny's Powers training video for your viewing pleasure.

Kenneth Gibson is 22 years old and currently a university student in Canada. He spent his childhood growing up on the mean streets of Belfast; a typical latchkey kid, as most of the neighborhood kids were. At 12 he moved with his parents to Hamilton, ON; spending his teenage years in that post-industrial wasteland that is (probably best known as being the butt of one of John Stewart's jokes at the Montreal comedy festival some years ago). Nowadays he spends his time being a news junkie, policy wonk and and student of archaeology.
