Gen. James Mattis will likely replace Gen. David Petraeus as head of Central Command (CENTCOM), which oversees all Middle East military operations. And it seems he thinks "it's fun to shoot some people," if not "a hell of a hoot."

James Mattis will be based out of a Tampa, Florida military base, sadly, so he will not be able to run around the streets shooting people for fun.

For his part, General Mattis has gotten in trouble for past observations on a life of combat. In 2005, he received an official rebuke for comments that included "it's a lot of fun to fight."

"You go into Afghanistan, you got guys who slap around women for five years because they didn't wear a veil," he said while speaking at a forum in San Diego. "You know guys like that ain't got no manhood left anyway, so it's a hell of a lot of fun to shoot them."

As this video shows, though, "it's a lot of fun to fight" was not nearly as "fun" as his next two sentences, "You know, it's a hell of a hoot. It's fun to shoot some people."

Why is this man being nominated for an office job? Oh right, he's old and can't run around. But think of all the fun he could have shooting people who are mean to ladies.
