Say you run a mediocre baseball team that no one cares about and plays in a turquoise football stadium. How do you get your franchise in the spotlight? You find a lame schtick. Like handing out free vuvuzelas to fans.

The Florida Marlins are now stepping into 2002 Disney Anaheim Angels territory, when ownership handed out thundersticks during the postseason. The Marlins, for their game yesterday against the Tampa Bay Rays, handed out free vuvuzelas to the first 15,000 fans who came to the stadium. Marlins second baseman Dan Uggla summed it up: "That was the worst handout or giveaway I've ever been a part of in baseball."
