South Carolina State Senator Censured, Asked To Resign Over 'Raghead' Comment
The South Carolina Republican party has censured and asked to resign state senator Jake Knotts, who recently called GOP gubernatorial nominee Nikki Haley and President Obama each a "raghead." Knotts is a bit of a "character" and obviously won't resign.
Knotts' comments, on a June 3 web broadcast, were, "We've already got a raghead in the White House, we don't need another raghead in the governor's mansion," and "She's a raghead that's ashamed of her religion trying to hide it behind being Methodist for political reasons." He also called her a "fucking raghead" at one point, which made it... worse? Because he put a curse word before "raghead"?
Haley is the child of Sikh immigrants from India, by the way. Knotts does not know the difference between Sikhs or Hindus or Muslims or their countries, considering that he qualified his comments with, "We're at war over there."
Knotts later "apologized" by calling his comments a hilarious "joke," of which he must have many. Last night, however, the Lexington County GOP — which also represents Nikki Haley — voted 26-7 to censure him for his idiot nonsense, and folks throughout the party are calling for him to step down for being an idiot loudmouth.
In response to the pressure, Knotts has responded, "This is nothing but politics. I'm not resigning. I could care less." Really, he could? We think he meant that he couldn't care less, but there's no reason to condescend to this raghead.
