R. Kelly Opens the World Cup with His "Sign of a Victory"
This morning in Johannesburg, R. Kelly performed "Sign of a Victory" to open the 2010 World Cup. The number includes Kelly dropping to his knees, lyrics about global warming, and—of course—autotune. In other words, it's pure gold.
And boy, are R. Kelly's delusions of grandeur back and better than ever! He tells the Wall Street Journal,
I wanted ‘Sign of a Victory' to be written and custom-made for the soccer World Cup," he says. "But I wanted to go beyond and spread it beyond that world and touch on some of the issues in the world that make us all one. And I thought if I touch on an issue like global warming, which is an issue we're all dealing with, I thought that musically, lyrically it could make us one-there's World Cup, and there's world peace.
