As a Gay American, I beg to differ with that assessment of Obama. I don't feel like he's done jack for me or my people.
If there was a gay president, it was Clinton, despite his "Don't Ask, Don't Tell" blunder. Back then, I didn't fear being gay as much as I do today. The Bush years set gays back so many years.

As noted in the article, it's not perfect, but he's done something for the community. And I think "Don't Ask, Don't Tell" is super-close to being overturned, and I know he'll sign that into law right away, as he has promised to do so.
So, if Bill Clinton was our "first black President" and Barack Obama was our "first gay President" will our first openly gay President (James Buchanan notwithstanding) be our "first furry President?"
@CablinasianDem: No, he'll be our "first female president", the first female president will be the "first atheist president," and the first atheist president will be our "first child president." All of this will pave the way to the 2076 election where the people—-caught up in the hoopla of the tricentennial—-will elect a 4-year-old wearing an Uncle Sam costume and waving a huge American flag. This child will be our "first multi-national corporation president."
Besides same-sex marriage, what exactly is "the gay agenda" anyway? The FRC makes it sound like y'all are planning something way more sinister.
I know it is all about the way you phrase it, but I think Obama actually has some image problems because of his promise to get rid of DADT by the end of 2010. I really don't see it happening in Congress so quickly.
The Conservatives are great at word play. Pro-Life is the biggest horseshit term because it implies that Pro-Choice individuals (like me) are not dedicated to reducing overall abortions and are not respectful of life. That is what they are doing with this "Gay Agenda" term. There is no "Gay Agenda", there is just an agenda for justice and equality. Imagine if we started saying there is a "Black Agenda" because a state started firing blacks for being black. Everyone would know it is ridiculous. That is what makes me despise Fox and their pundits that use that term. It is such an incredibly hateful farce.
