Charlotte Ronson
Fashion designer-slash-social fixture Charlotte Ronson is the daughter of socialite Ann Dexter-Jones and the sibling of DJs/social scenesters, Mark and Samantha Ronson.
Charlotte was born in London to socialite Ann Dexter and real estate developer Laurence Ronson. Her parents divorced when she was five, and Ann remarried Foreigner guitarist, Mick Jones. The family moved to New York and Charlotte was enrolled at Nightingale-Bamford. She went on to NYU and set her sights on fashion design. Her last name and familial connections eased the process of breaking into the fashion world and her first collection, C. Ronson, was launched in 2000. In 2002, Ronson's first store opened in Nolita, and a year later she inked a partnership with hip-hop mogul, Damon Dash. Her first collaboration got off to a rocky start: Dash quickly dropped Ronson and switched his allegiance-and funds-to support his new wife, Rachel Roy. Ronson found a replacement in Aaron Nir, the president of Sanei International. Together the two worked to modernize and mature her brand. Through the help of her family and friends, Ronson has worked on collections with a number of tabloid fixtures, including her mother, her best friend, Soshanna (Jerry Seinfeld's ex), and her siblings, DJing duo, Mark and Samantha.
Ronson has also collaborated with retailers in the U.S., including Urban Outfitters,, JC Penny, and Sephora, as well as internationally, specifically in Japan, at Uniqlo and Sanei International. Ronson has shared some of her success with her family while building her brand: her half sister, Annabelle Dexter-Jones, is the face of her brand, and her collaboration with Urban Outfitters, "Play" by C. Ronson, is named after a mixtape that her twin sister (and Lindsay Lohan's ex), Samantha, made for her. [Image via Getty]
