TechMeme's Robots Are Now Compiling Media News
Since 2005, semi-automatic news aggregator TechMeme has become a front page for Silicon Valley and its leaderboard rankings a status obsession for writers. Now comes Mediagazer, the similarly cyborg compilation of media news. Egos are already trembling.
Yes, Mediagazer founding editor (and former Valleywag party correspondent) Megan McCarthy assures those who have wondered, the new site will have a leaderboard too, in about a month, for the requisite dick-measuring contests among media beat reporters. And now that stories are being assigned by computers over at AOL Seed and sorted and selected for readers by the computers at TechMeme, it should only be a couple of more years before the entire link-bait supply chain is entirely automated.
