I Love You Phillip Morris, in which Jim Carrey and Ewan McGregor play a gay couple, was the toast of Sundance last year, but has languished ever since. It's finally out in April. And McGregor is unhappy with the studio.

In an interview with Joshua David Stein for Out magazine, the cheeky Scot aired his theory that Disney delayed releasing the movie, about a relationship between two gay criminals, until after Carrey's A Christmas Carol came out. "They didn't want kids thinking [Carrey's] Ebenezer Scrooge was a bender," he explained.

He's also unhappy that the studio are attempting to play down the gayness of what seems, frankly, like a pretty gay movie (despite a less gay re-cut to secure distribution). "There was quite a lot of talk at Sundance that ‘Well, it's not a gay movie. It's a film about guys who happen to be gay," he told JDS. "And I was thinking, it's nothing but a gay movie. It's about a gay couple, about a man's sexuality, and he comes out. It's not the point of the film, but let's not pretend it's not a gay film."

What would Marc Jacobs think?
