Netflix Sunday Matinee: Kicking and Screaming
Made a full ten years ago and no way affiliated with the Will Ferrell vehicle of the same name, Kicking and Screaming is the directorial debut of Noah Baumbach and unless Greenberg is fantastic (can't wait!), it's his best film.
The story of a group of post-graduate friends kicking around their college town before starting their lives, getting drunk at "townie" bars and hooking up with freshman, doesn't seem like much on paper, but one needs to only listen to the sharp lines and pitch perfect performances to know they are witnessing something special. Throw on some tweed, put on your Brand New Heavies tape and take a trip down memory lane to your time at Vassar with this wonderfully wry look at what it means to be young and aimless.
