The boys at gay New York nightlife mag Next Magazine mapped out all the homosexual establishments that closed over the past ten years. This makes us feel sad and old. Click to enlarge.

Remember the trough at The Slide? Strippers at the Gaiety? E at The Roxy? When I used to work at Next Magazine? Oh, the memories. It's funny that even though most of the gay bars that have closed are in the East Village, West Village, Chelsea, and Hell's Kitchen, that's where most of the gay bars are still today. And notice "Hetero Alley" down the East Side. It's not that they have a thriving gay bar business, it's that there weren't any gay bars there in the first place!
