Tonight, CBS aired The Grammy Nominations Concert, which we live blogged in the comments. And in the least surprising twist of the evening, George Lopez continued to make unfunny jokes about Tiger Woods.

Tonight's live nominations concert—the second of its kind—was the result of the Recording Academy's desire to drum up buzz for the actual Grammy awards, which will be held at the Staples Center on January 31, 2010 and air live on CBS. So, did it work? If so, it's not because of the lackadaisically mediocre performances, which came from the Black Eyed Peas, Maxwell, Nick Jonas, Sugarland and a cheesy, albeit well-executed, customized opening rap from LL Cool J, who served as host.

The saving grace for the Grammys this year, however, may be what's shaping up to be a three-way battle royale in the major categories between Beyoncé, with a leading 10 nominations overall; Taylor Swift, with eight nods; and my boo, Lady Gaga, with five. All three ladies are nominated in the Song of the Year, Record of the Year and Album of the Year categories, and—considering their wildly variant fan bases—are likely to draw added attention to the broadcast.

Below is a list of nominees for the award categories that were announced live on air. A full list of nominees is available at Grammy.com.
