White House Apparently 'Unprepared' for Complaints from People Who Actually Voted for Obama
We are pretty sure the Washington Post is just trolling us, with this Michael Shear and Ceci Connolly story on how shocked the White House is that the liberals are pissed at them for fucking up health care.
Either the Post is trolling us, anyway, or the White House is. They can't figure out why liberals want them to fail so much! Don't liberals understand that they need to shut up about the stuff they want if they want their president to succeed? Jeez, it's like these dumb Democratic Congressmen don't get that we have to let all policy debates be framed by Republicans, and that we must always start from a position of responsible centrism and them move toward a compromise with conservatives from there!
Hey, what would be the worst possible analogy for an unnamed "senior White House adviser, who spoke on the condition of anonymity" to use, when complaining about liberal whining?
"I don't understand why the left of the left has decided that this is their Waterloo," said a senior White House adviser, who spoke on the condition of anonymity. "We've gotten to this point where health care on the left is determined by the breadth of the public option. I don't understand how that has become the measure of whether what we achieve is health-care reform."
"It's a mystifying thing," he added. "We're forgetting why we are in this."
Yes, perfect, let's adopt the language of Jim DeMint and claim the only people who actually want Obama to actually pass effective legislation are just hoping the president will fail, because we hate winning anything. Nice one, Rahm. Thanks for just stoking the flames of this "intraparty rift" instead of bothering to try to convince anyone of the merits of a reform bill without a public option. That would be the coward's way out!
It's true that liberals forgot why they are in this. Those jokers thought they wanted to provide every American with health care!
