The New York Blade, one of NYC's only major gay papers, is shutting down. Its entire staff has been let go. But there's still some far-fetched, theoretical hope.

"Everyone was let go, but the people on The Blade know that they may come back if The Blade is coming back," said the executive, Matthew Bank, of HX Media, which was formed in 2005 by the merger of The Blade and HX Magazine...
"It doesn't have an issue scheduled until a week from Friday." Mr. Bank said. "There are a lot of things that can happen between now and then."

Right, so, it's folded, and if it happens to come back, then it will come back. We'll see. In the current advertising market, small weekly papers are in a rough position, no matter what they cover.

Bank also told the New York Press that HX magazine and its website—other gay publications he owned—have been sold as well, and that the July 10 issue "will be the last one produced by HX Media and its staff."
