The only survivor known survivor thus far of the Yemeni plane that crashed with 153 people aboard last night off the coast of the island nation of Comoros is a five-year-old child.

It's not clear yet whether it was a boy or a girl plucked from the waters alive. Yemenia Airways chairman Capt. Abdulkhalek al-Kadi told CNN, "One child is alive and we hope to find more,"

So far, the bodies of five victims of the crash have been recovered.

The Yemeni airlines Airbus was attempting to land in heavy winds when it ditched in the Indian Ocean about 12 miles north of Grande Comore island, which is off the coast of Africa between Mozambique and Madagascar.

The flight originated in France and stopped over at Yemen's San'a International airport (pictured) before continuing to Comoros.
