The Galleries' Last Gasp
From a tipster: "I saw this bunny standing pacing in front of galleries on 24th street off of 11th have this morning...unusual marketing by galleries? legit unemployment performance art?" Likely because galleries are all closing.
A gallery Death Watch has sprung up on an arty blogspot, causing much discussion among the tongue-clucking art world. Some art folks, gallery owners in particular, find the whole endeavor just dreadfully "ghoulish." Reveling in the downfall of others as it may be, art prices are dropping precipitously and galleries are struggling to stay open.
And now, to remind us, we've received the sad art bunny. An avatar of the new era if ever there was one. A Harvey we all can see.
