For some reason, after hearing a funny Joy Luck Club reference on Saved by the Bell: The College Years this morning, we're in a really introspective place. Or that's the boxed wine rotting our brains.

WATCH

Little Manhattan [8 PM, Lifetime Movie Network] - We've probably seen this film about a dozen times and it still hasn't convinced us that Manhattan's Upper West Side is a desirable place to live. Nevertheless, we recommend you give this fable of young white love in NYC a look-see. While Bradley Whitford and Cynthia Nixon are mismatched as the divorcing husband and wife, Whitford and Josh Hutcherson are a miracle of parent-child casting.

What Not to Wear [9 PM, TLC] - In this episode, an "emo" journalism student is shown how to dress so she doesn't scare off employers. Some of these What Not to Wear episodes require a lot of work on the part of the fashion consultants, but we could have knocked this out in 10 minutes: Less eyeliner. No more bangs. Get rid of the horn-rims. Maybe put a scarf over the Dashboard Confessional neck tattoo.

TiVo

Definitely, Maybe [9 PM, Cinemax] - Ryan Reynolds stars as a young father who, on the eve of his divorce, tells his daughter (Method-eschewer Abigail Breslin) how he met her mother. Rachel Weisz, Elizabeth Banks and Isla Fisher star as his past loves and Kevin Kline steals the show as an alcoholic professor who enunciates superbly. Now that Reynolds is hitched, we hope his newfound personal satisfaction leads him to do more small comedies (Van Wilder is on Comedy Central tonight at 10 PM), as his sincere-sarcastic shtick aways finds fertile ground in those projects.

KILL

We love television crossovers, whether concurrent and overlapping like the days when Homicide: Life on the Street and Law & Order would drag a narrative through a whole week of golden age NBC, or posthumous and somewhat fantastical, like when Martin (of Martin) took a cruise on the Love Boat (of The Love Boat) and ran into various TLB cast members. While the latter usually requires a lot of winking, it's always great to see our old TV friends.*

Tonight, Fox breaks new ground in reality TV crossovers:

Are You Smarter than a 5th Grader? [8 PM, Fox] - As the Fox website trumpets, this SPECIAL CROSSOVER EPISODE has a frat boy and a bank teller competing for the big bucks. When the bank teller fails, Wayne Brady appears to invite her to appear on Don't Forget the Lyrics. Whoa. Spin that record back — two shows in the same night? What will she say? You'll have to tune in!

Don't Forget the Lyrics [9 PM, Fox] - The bank teller who proved she was not smarter than a 5th grader gets a second try at winning a prize. For one, this bank teller better be a lot more charismatic (and photogenic) than the goons at Wells Fargo. Also, we're not even going to address the fact that Fox has already told us the outcome of half the AYSta5G? episode. Finally, we hope this trend catches on. How about some lady beefs it on Deal or No Deal and then has to endure hidden camera pranks on Howie Do It? Shit, they've probably already shot that.

*Our all-time favorite para-crossover moment was a Letterman segment in 2004 called "Potatoes or Gavin MacLeod?" The writers waited for the third installment for it to be Gavin MacLeod behind the mystery door, and when he came out he was in the Captain's uniform.
