Remember the Daffy's apartment contest? A few weeks ago, the discount clothing chain announced that it planned to give one lucky New Yorker a $7,000-a-month apartment rental for $700 a month. Contestants had to record a 30-second video explaining why they deserved the pad; Daffy's would pick the best entries and ask the public to select a winner.

Daffy's collection of finalists is now online if you'd like to register your vote. In the meantime, though, the store has posted a mash-up of losing entries on YouTube.

Ever watch American Idol and feel sorry for the poor people whose public humiliation only goes to put millions of dollars in the pockets of people Simon Cowell and Ryan Seacrest? Don't be surprised if you experience something similar when you see a collection of unfortunate New Yorkers explain to Daffy's that they need the apartment because they're homeless, widowed, divorced, or unemployed.
