It's not just Ivy League-educated investment bankers in Manhattan who are getting shown the door as Citigroup trims its payroll. The 50,000 job cuts are taking place at the bank's offices around the world, a process that doesn't seem to be going all that smoothly judging by the email we received from a recently-terminated Citigroup employee in India by the name of Chetan Kelawala. It's a rather depressing and complicated tale, and we're not sure we follow what happened to Kelawala exactly. (The details are contained in the email that Kelawala sent to Citi CEO Vikram Pandit, which appears after below.) And while we have no doubt that the Hindi-speaking Pandit will get to the bottom of this situation just as soon as he possibly can, just in case he forgets (or decides that the goings-on at Citigroup's Pushp Vihar office in Delhi don't merit his time), you're more welcome to email him a reminder at vikram.pandit@citi.com.

Subject: Fwd: Forced for resignation-MATTER 2008003204 ADDITIONAL

Sir,

I have been forcefully terminated letter dated 23rd December;2008. I have asked for the reason of resignation. On the second day at Delhi pushpvihar office i was not able to meet anybody. They have told the reason that terminated employee are not allowed to enter under the company premises. I was thrown out by security officer.

Later on i have been taken to the admin head office Mr.Randhawa. He had talked with me in details and tried to convience me on the ground that he will be able to give me 7 salaries if i agree for the separation policy. I have believe the same and written the resignation under the separation plan. I have also write that the application was wrong.

Let me take the stand that i was scared after the incident. I was willing to go to surat. Admin officer randhava has also assured you that your to and from air travel including the hotel room will be reimburse by the company if i agree for the resignation.

Now on record i am been terminated and not having any other jobs in hand.

I am having 2 child, wife, mummy and one mentally retired sister. I am the only breat earner of the family. Please save my job.

I wish you all a Happy New year 2009.

Regards,
Chetan kelawala
