It isn't just the poor and overextended who are freaking out about the tanking economy. According to a survey co-sponsored by American Express, seven in ten "affluent" Americans—people with $100,000 and $1 million in annual disposable income—are now worried about running out of money. And just how are they responding? They're giving more thought to whether they need "luxury" items and waiting for stuff to go on sale before buying. Most troubling, though, is that respondents to the survey said they'd be "cutting back on the number of recipients on their gift list." Guess it's time to be extra nice to anyone who got you a really expensive present last Christmas!
