It's sort of a silver lining, we suppose, and it's nice of the Times to at least try and make us feel better about the fact that free market capitalism has screwed up so monumentally: According to some, the paper reports, bad economic phases can be good for people's health. The work-hard, play-hard lifestyle prevalent during boom times means eating and drinking more, greater stress levels, and less time for exercise. So tell yourself that this winter when you're sitting at home, eating Ramen noodles, and deciding between turning up the radiator or putting on another sweater.
