Amy Sacco Less Prominent, Not Quite Destitute
Joshua David Stein brings us some breaking news in Page Six mag: Amy Sacco is no longer the queen of New York nightlife! No one goes to Bungalow 8 anymore; her restaurant, Bette, shuttered last month; and Sacco is now spending much of her time in London, where she dates a British chef and oversees a Bungalow offshoot (which, one of Stein's interviewees says, is less cool than the "club lounge at Heathrow Airport.") But it's even worse than that, according to Stein:
Sales at District have been weak (less than a third of the 163 units have been sold since the building opened in June of last year), though Amy says she assumed all the units had sold. In April 2008, Eos Airlines declared bankruptcy. "I was devastated and heartbroken" over this, Amy says, "but rising fuel prices made it impossible" for Eos to operate. Earlier this year, the IRS filed a federal lien of almost $179,000 on Amy's London Terrace apartment, which usually happens when a homeowner does not pay taxes. (Liens can lead to foreclosure on a home.) Amy brushes that off too, saying "it's been cleared," but it is not yet determined that the IRS agrees.
We don't expect Sacco to be filing for bankruptcy any time soon. And there is some good news! She's still the creative director at the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino, for example, which is where she celebrated his 40th birthday earlier this year. And just look at the celebs who were there at the same time: Motley Crue's Vince Neal, Richie Sambora, and Jason Giambi. Who says Amy has lost her cool?
