Friday
· Music round-up: Metric at the Henry Fonda; Morrissey is in the middle of his 10-show Palladium odyssey; Jon Brion at Largo.
· Legendary dirty-wordsmith George Carlin paces the stage at the Gibson Amphitheatre.
· Co-hosts Scott Gimple and Dave Holmes once again preside over their drunken IO West game show, the Friday 40, in which booze is consumed and the recall of current events celebrated.
Saturday
· The UCB Theatre's "Morgan Murphy Presents Jen Kirkman" show clears some space on its couch for Laura Kightlinger and Merrill Markoe.
· The LA Weekly's Detour Festival brings The Shout Out Louds, Kinky, Bloc Party, Teddy Bears, and roughly seven hundred other bands to the downtown area. Also, there will be drinking.
Sunday
· After a day at Detour, you'll probably want to walk off that hangover. Why not look at some paintings and sculpture at the Brewery Art Walk while you slowly recover?
· More music: The Shins at the Greek; Pretty in Stereo at the Biper Room; Spongebob and The Hi-Seas featuring Tom Kenny with The Monolators, I Make This Sound, Zanzibar Lewis, Evan Way (of Parsons Redheads), and The Breakups play a benefit for Izabel Vega at at Safari Sam's.
