[Note: exciting updates are after the jump!] Continuing our ongoing series on mysterious stenches that occasionally terrorize the Greater Los Angeles Area, we pass along this breaking tip from an operative puzzled by an unpleasant odor at a local news outfit:

Something happened at the CBS 2 / KCAL 9 Studio City location and the entire building smells like poo. We thought it was the L.A. River but no, no it is not.

With a building full of investigative reporters in the immediate vicinity of the poo-stench, we're sure someone will quickly discover its source; we'll be monitoring both their website and their local TV presence for breaking developments about either the plumbing disaster or disgestively distressed employee responsible, as well as for real-time reactions from those most profoundly affected by the olfactory disaster.

UPDATE: The smell has now been more vividly described as "like [a] rotting port-a-potty after a 3 day Phish concert."

UPDATE 2: We're now told the stench is due to an "exhaust problem." Hopefully, they'll figure out a way to use that exhaust system to direct the "rotting port-a-potty" smell out of the building so that everyone doesn't have to spend the rest of their Friday inhaling tainted air.
