For her final "Talk to the Newsroom" query, New York Times Living Editor Trish Hall chose a "where do you get your ideas" softball from a reader. Her response?
Many ideas come from the three or four staff writers assigned to each section. They get their ideas from being out and about, talking to people in their field, whether that means chefs, real estate brokers or designers. But reporters also get their ideas from walking down the street and seeing something, or being at a party and overhearing a comment or talking to a friend on the phone late at night.
Ah, finally it all makes sense. "You mean you're fucking your contractor too? I thought it was just me!"
