In an attempt to reach the diffident 20-something reader, New York magazine, that arbiter of cool to suburban orthodontists' wives throughout the tri-state area, has come up with a brilliant plan: Par-tays!

For the $20 cost of attending [a New York magazine event] consumers will see the band Of Montreal play one set on its own and another backing up audience members in karaoke; watch comedian Michael Showalter perform hosting duties; and receive a one-year subscription to New York.

Or, you know, you could scan the whole thing online for free, not have to see Of Montreal, and save yourself the embarrassment of having your postman know that you read New York. Tough choice, kids!
