While the industry held its collective breath in the immediate aftermath of yesterday's explosion at CAA's new Century City headquarters, waiting to see which Wilshire Boulevard rival would step forward to claim responsibility for a suicide bombing striking out at the evil agenting monolith's Hollywood hegemony, it exhaled in relief when it was revealed that blast was a maintenance mishap and no one was more seriously injured than they might be in a typical day's work at the agency. But with the momentary chaos produced by a gas-induced diaspora that temporarily flooded their neighborhood with Armani-clad refugees, tenants of nearby buildings needed some reassurance that everything was OK. Last night, that reassurance finally came in a memo from the company that manages CAA's building:

At approximately 2:30 pm this afternoon, there was a small flash explosion in the kitchen space at CAA in 2000 Avenue of the Stars. Ron Meyers of the Los Angeles Fire Department (LAFD) explained, "The gas company was working on a line and it ignited a small flash explosion. There was no fire nor were any hazardous materials released." After a brief evacuation of the CAA space, employees were admitted back into their offices.

A few people were treated on-site and/or transported to a hospital for further observation. Per the most recent information provided, thankfully, no serious injuries have been reported.

We commend CAA and their employees for their orderly and calm response to the incident as well as their cooperation with LAFD and fire-life safety staff.

Please contact me directly if you have any questions.

Best regards,

By all accounts, all previously anxious neighbors have returned to work this morning without incident, confident that the orderly, calm, and cooperative residents of 2000 Avenue of the Stars have returned to their new home, having no need to violently invade their neighbors in a quest for operational office space. All is peaceful in Century City, at least for now.
