According to E! Online's "Watch With" Kristin Veitch, ABC may be following through on its pledge to take the Isaiah Washington situation "very seriously" by prejudicially shitcanning the slur-repeating actor from Grey's Anatomy without the benefit of a tear-soaked farewell episode dramatizing his sudden departure from the hospital:

I just received word from a highly placed source within the Touchstone/ABC family that ABC and Disney executives are currently considering the option of firing Isaiah Washington from Grey's Anatomy, effective immediately, without having him appear in any kind of farewell episode.

According to this reliable source, if the network does follow through with this option, the producers are likely to run a full-screen announcement at the beginning of the first Burke-less episode that announces Isaiah Washington is no longer part of the show.

While a hasty writing-off and title-card announcement is not the most elegant solution to ABC's Washington problem, it's probably better than compelling the actor to make his final appearance in a clip that runs before the first Burke-free installment of Grey's, in which he unconvincingly hugs co-star T.R. Knight after the outed colleague ceremonially signs a document waiving his right to sue parent company Disney over the incident.
