'My Super Sweet Funeral,' Anyone?

A writer sent an email around to ProfNet—the queries clearinghouse for journalists who don't have their own sources—looking for people to comment about a potentially burgeoning trend, or a new MTV reality show in the making:
I am writing an article (in the query stage, possibly for USA Today or USA Weekend) about fabulous funerals. It's all about planning your own funeral, making it personal, even fun — a "special occasion" your friends and family will remember forever. I'm looking for off-the-wall, anything goes, different — unusual places, unique themes. How about funeral consultants who help coordinate funerals, as there are wedding planners? What's in for funerals? What's out? Are there rules? Is the funeral industry changing as baby boomers age? If so, how? I'll interview authors, experts, people who are planning their own funeral, and their family members.
