As you probably recall, the last time "Your Body Is a Wonderland" crooner John Mayer attempted stand-up comedy, things didn't go so well. And since that abortive performance, the climate's gotten, well, maybe a teeny bit less receptive to stand-up comedians with a tendency to drop the "nigger" word, as Mayer did at his last visit to the Comedy Cellar. However, even though we hate his date-rapey singing voice, Mayer has since endeared himself to us a little bit with that whole "Don't believe the [Simpson-manufactured] hype" thing. So when a tipster reported having seen Mayer's comedic stylings last night, we were intrigued. Maybe he was funny this time! We kind of liked where he was going with that whole "women are sluts" thing, you know? Could he redeem himself and rack up some laffs?

Non-answers after the jump.

so john mayer did another set at comedy cellar, like he did a few months ago and you guys went nuts about it. hold on, let me do a line. ok, done. so ok, yeah, john mayer, set at comedy cellar. truthfully, he wasn't half bad. stand up comedy is probably one of the hardest things one could do, and yeah, he had to keep checking his blackberry to remember his jokes, but it was kind of endearing, in an "i'm a foolish musician" kind of way, but hey, when was the last time you saw Huey Lewis do that? And yeah, I just capitized his name, because hey, he's fucking Huey, ok? OK? But anyway, Mayer was halfway decent, and everyone else there tonight was from South Carolina and doesn't know what Gawker is, so I have to take it upon myself to tell you about it, but still, he was decent, and his head is huge, which lends credence to my theory, that unless you are David Hasselhoff and the Germans automatically accept you, you need to have a huge head, physically speaking, to be something in this world, and me with my little jew head, I'm nothing. Nothing, I tell you. Thank you. Don't do drugs.

Anyone else out there see the show and want to fill in the blanks here? South Carolinians excepted, of course.
