New York Observer owner Jared Kushner got the hometown puff piece treatment from the Newark Star-Ledger over the weekend. We can't figure out whether the writer of the piece is a total idiot, or whether Jared's just so charmant that he's able to make everyone be nicey-nicey:

Jared Kushner never planned it this way. He always figured at 25 he'd be doing what most of his friends are doing now — working in a bank or getting a master's degree while figuring out exactly what being a grown-up means.

He's just a man with a dream! But what about that $1.8 billion building he and his dad just bought? How does that fit in with the Kushner strategy?

Now, with the purchases of the Observer and 666 Fifth, another strategy is emerging as the Kushner Cos. evolve into a New York-centric venture with Jared — part newspaper publisher, part real estate investor — leading the way.

The theory is the Kushner name is a little less well-known, and less sullied, on the other side of the Hudson.

Not for long, my friend. Not ... for ... long.
