A Good Nanny Is Hard to Find, Especially If She's a Racist
Continuing the outsourcing theme with the domestic affairs of our more affluent friends, it hadn't occurred to us to wonder what would happen if nannies themselves started getting selective about whose little bastards they'd deign to wheel around the 'hood in this year's Bugaboo Frogs. Racist irony after the jump.
One sitter, a Caribbean woman living in Bedford-Stuyvesant, asked about the "colored" people in the Boones' neighborhood, Clinton Hill. A Russian sitter said enthusiastically that although she had never cared for a black child, she could in this case, because little Emerie Boone, now 7 months old, was light-skinned. All sitters expressed surprise that a black couple could afford a four-story brownstone.
I mean, shit, if you're black and can afford a nanny, there has to be something shady and dangerous going on, no?
