Irresponsible Rumormongering: Page Six's Corynne Steindler Can't Be Expected to Know Geography
Working at Page Six requires many skills, not least among them knowing the difference between Luke and Owen Wilson. Of course, it also helps to have even a rudimentary knowledge of geography and maybe even local politics. You never know when those things are going to come in handy, working at a New York tabloid and all.
Anyway, a tipster reports that the Post newsroom has been tittering about the latest Corynne Steindlerism. Steindler, you'll recall, was plucked from the clutches of David Hauslaib to be Paula Froelich's lieutenantess after freebie-loving Sarah Polonsky was axed, then almost got fired herself for nearly throwing herself a sponsored welcome party, and it seems as though the newest Sixer isn't quite the sharpest knife in the drawer.
A tipster reports that Steindler was doing an item at Page Six head honcho Richard Johnson's behest about Cory Booker, the new-ish mayor of Newark. Steindler, who apparently flunked 7th grade civics, reported that Booker was the mayor of New Jersey. When Johnson explained to Steindler that Booker is, in fact, the mayor of Newark, and that New Jersey doesn't have a mayor, it has a governor, she replied: "But New York has a mayor." Then, to excuse herself, she added, "What, it's not like I went to law school." That's our girl!
